The Al Heppner Memorial Scholarship Fund, established in 2004, is dedicated to assisting upper class university or college students who have demonstrated significant promise as elite walkers who clearly have the potential to make the Olympic Trials and quite possibly the Olympics.  Eight collegiate athletes have been funded at $2,500 each since 2004.  Applications for the 2010 award have not yet been received.

The National Junior Elite Racewalk Endowment Fund (NJEREF), donated to NARI in 2007, will hopefully reach the one million dollars or greater endowment level. This endowment will be used to assist junior age, 14-19, elite race walkers as they progress toward international prominence. The endowment funds are gifts that keep on giving since the principal is never touched and only the interest may be used to fund deserving athletes. This is a new fund and as such no distributions have been made yet.

The Olympic Games Training Fund was creasted since the 2012 Olympics is rapidly approaching, NARI is now offering one additional donation option, specifically to assist athletes currently in training for the 2012 Olympic race walk competitions in 20k and/or 50k. Donations earmarked for the new Olympic Games Training Fund will be used solely to assist our best prospects. As such, NARI expects applicants will have demonstrated times that approach the IAAF 'B' standard for their event. Since the fund is brand new it is currently unfunded, and hopefully will be supported by donations.  Providing assistance for travel to international meets, high altitude training sites, or assistance needed for a long-range training program will be a priority for funding when monies are available. This is a new fund and as such no distributions have been made yet.

A race walker meeting our standards may receive assistance from this fund.
